GPT-Trainer Review: Mediocre

Post Image

Summary:

Here's how GPT Trainer scores in the six most important categories for AI chatbots:

SCORECARD: 4.5 / 10

(10 is the best, 1 is the worst)

  • Customer Satisfaction: 4
  • Response Accuracy: 3
  • Response Speed: 9
  • Integrations: 2
  • Ease of Setup: 6
  • Customer Support Features: 3

Price: Paid plans start at $59/month with a 7-day free trial

Advantages of GPT Trainer:

  • Response speed: One of the main pros of GPT Trainer is its response speed. Their chatbots begin responding in less than a second because they use GPT-3.5 Turbo to respond, the fastest AI model on the market. However, this isn't without its downsides. More on that later.
  • Ease of Setup: Compared to enterprise solutions, GPT Trainer is relatively easy to set up. Compared to other startups, GPT-Trainer is a little bit more difficult to navigate.

Disadvantages of GPT Trainer:

  • Accuracy: The accuracy isn't great. We asked it some pretty basic questions and it gave us some questionable answers.
  • Look and feel: GPT Trainer chatbots look okay, not great. Nobody is going to be wowed by the design, but then again they probably won't churn either. If you like it, all power to you! It's just not for us.
  • Integrations: GPT Trainer integrates with Zapier and Slack. Zapier is by far the best integration to have because it integrates with nearly everything else you'd like it to. However, this means you can't directly integrate to ticketing systems, CRMs, notifications, or anything else.

Customer Satisfaction - 4/10

Customers review GPT Trainer well online. Most of the frustration is from a recent price change that limited message credits. That being said, we've tried out GPT Trainer and we're here to tell you that it's a good platform, but is dulled by the low response quality.

If you're using GPT Trainer as a fun website chatbot for users to play around with, then this could be a great solution, but if you're using it to answer customers' questions, then you may want to look elsewhere.

Accuracy - 3/10

Next up: accuracy.

It's always fun to play around with other chatbots to see how they'll respond. We didn't get far before running into some basic issues. The image above shows the chatbot misidentifying a question as off-topic. Strangely enough, this is a hard engineering problem to solve because LLMs are pattern matchers, not algorithms that can be perfectly structured to work in every case.

We've tested nearly every chatbot platform and about 50% have this issue. Some seemingly easy questions will be answered improperly or you'll received a canned response blocking you from getting a response.

Response Speed - 9/10

As stated before, GPT-Trainer is lightning fast. Their chatbot starts responding in under a second as long as the OpenAI API is online. This is great for users if they're using it for basic answers.

When users visit your site and are chatting with a chatbot, they want one thing: their problem to be solved as quickly as possible. Quickly responding to queries ensures users find out if they can get their problem solved. Using GPT-3.5 can backfire though, as shown above. You'll get quick, incorrect responses which can frustrate users and negatively affect their experience.

Integrations - 2/10

GPT Trainer integrates with Zapier and Slack.

  • Zapier: Send form submissions from your GPT-Trainer chatbot anywhere
  • Slack: Chat with your GPT-Trainer chatbot directly in Slack.

Zapier can be used for hundreds of purposes. Want to send form submissions to Notion? Done. Want to send a lead to Hubspot? Done. It's all super easy to set up and maintain.

Slack is also an amazing integration to have. Companies can avoid using yet another tool by directly chatting with their chatbot in Slack.

That being said, there are some notable omissions from this list. Integrations like Freshdesk, Zendesk, Intercom, Helpscout, Notion, Google Drive, Dropbox, and Hubspot are all missing. These direct integrations are industry standard and are great for centralizing data for customer support teams.

Ease of Set Up - 6/10

Customization:

GPT Trainer has tons of customization options. It's a bit overwhelming at first when you hop into the dashboard, but after a few minutes of navigating around, you'll be a pro. The chat is deeply customizable to match your brand's look and feel.

Uploading Information:

You can upload information in under a minute. It is incredibly easy. Their plans are based on 'tokens' so you're limited to 250,000 tokens of uploaded information (which is roughly equivalent to 500 pages of text).

Deploying:

Deploying your chatbot to your website takes three clicks. Copy the embed code. Paste the embed code in the header of your website. Click save. It's really that simple.

Platform Features - 3/10

GPT-Trainer focuses on creating chatbots, not on offering a full customer support system. They offer a great tool for building chatbots but miss important features like ticketing systems and detailed analytics. This could limit your customer support if you need an all-in-one solution.

We recommend looking to other platforms for cheaper, better-looking, and more robust chatbots.

Alternatives to GPT-Trainer: Rivit, Dante, and My AskAI

GPT-Trainer is relatively affordable and easy to set up. This is perfect for adding some novelty to your website homepage. However, there are plenty of cheaper options like Dante AI or My AskAI if you're looking for alternatives.

If you're looking for a comprehensive customer support platform, Rivit is your solution. It offers an extensive array of features, including an AI copilot, human handoff capabilities, and advanced analytics. Rivit integrates smoothly with your existing support applications, making it incredibly easy to implement and maintain. Check it out!
